Project Practitioner – Young People and Families

Salary Range – from £28,200 to £31,200

Purpose 

This role is at the heart of our Services which delivers innovation and trauma-responsive support to young people aged 12–24 and their families. You will provide early, relational and trauma-informed whole-family support for young people, parents, carers and families facing distress, exclusion and systemic barriers. At its heart, the service aims to strengthen hope, connection and belonging so families can imagine safer futures, rebuild trusted relationships and feel rooted in their communities.

The Role

The Project Practitioner will meet young people and their families where they are at. You will use relational focussed and trauma informed practice to build trust, develop connection, and create safe spaces for them to be heard, supported, and empowered.

Working alongside statutory agencies and community partners, this role ensures young people and their families can navigate education, justice, and mental health systems with guidance, advocacy, and relational support.

Key Responsibilities 

• Provide one-to-one relational support for young people and their families, focusing on safety, emotional regulation, and confidence-building.
• Support young new and expectant parents in their new parenting role through group work, coaching and modelling and one to one support.
• Provide place-based support for young people and their families where they need it including face to face and digitally.
• Co-design and deliver group work promoting resilience, belonging, and healthy relationships.
• Support young people and their families to navigate CAMHS, social work, schools, justice, and housing systems, advocating for their voices to be heard.
• Foster peer connection and community engagement, helping young people and their families to build supportive and connected networks.
• Gather, analyse, and report on outcomes and impact, contributing to reflective learning and continuous improvement.
• Identify key themes impacting young people and families and develop innovative and effective supports with lived experience and voice at the heart.
• Work closely with the Lead Practitioner – Families to provide holistic, wraparound support to young people and families.
• Promote trauma-informed, relational practice at every stage of engagement.

Essential Skills & Experience 

• Qualification in CLD, Youth Work, Social Care, Psychology, or related field (HNC level or above, or equivalent experience).
• At least 5 years’ demonstrable experience working directly with young people or families in community or care settings.
• Understand systems and how they impact young people and their families.
• Experience of delivering services/engaging with care experienced Young People.
• Knowledge of themes impacting young people and their families.
• Skilled in trauma-informed and relational approaches, particularly with
  young people and families facing distress, exclusion, or systemic disadvantage.
• Experienced in supporting young people and families who are disengaged from mainstream services or at risk of crisis.
• Commitment to suicide prevention and willingness to undertake ASIST/mental health training.
• Excellent communicator, able to build trust and empower young people and their families to take agency over their lives.
• Skilled in developing and delivering meaningful and effective group work.
